Macroseismic risk classification of historical constructions: the LEXSIS approach

Abstract The present paper deals with the elaboration of a methodology to assess macro-seismic risk monumental historical buildings, representing fundamental part European cultural assets. Monumental buildings typically arise from very complex constructive and morphological evolution process characterised by modifications occurred over centuries. Therefore, they are usually heterogeneous similar 'structural aggregates' rather than single constructions structural behaviour depending on mutual interaction different units. An accurate knowledge can allow determination units within complex: such be therefore analysed using specific evaluation form conceived provide 'risk ranking' portions constituting aggregate accounting for vulnerability, exposure seismic hazard parameters. proposed exploits what is already used quickly determine features eventual damages in post-earthquake phase ordinary introducing aspects typical historical-cultural heritage requiring attention.
